Case Study: CRSC Data Center Pilot Results

First Three Weeks

Since July 28, 2026, FacilityOps AI has been conducting an autonomous inspection pilot at the CRSC Data Center, powered by Solutions IS, in Houston, Texas. During the first three weeks, the robot completed 19 autonomous inspection runs, collecting more than 1,600 observations and establishing a continuous measurement baseline across the facility.

Findings

Key Findings

Cooling Unit Failure Identified

  • The system detected a failed condenser on one of two cooling units.
  • That unit consistently operated 7.2°F warmer than the other unit, with no overlap in temperature ranges.
  • A handheld verification confirmed the measurement within 1.1°F.
  • The condenser was promptly repaired and the unit has returned to normal operation, reflecting the priority CRSC places on reliability and swift maintenance.

Elevated Ambient Temperatures

  • Average rack-intake temperature measured 84.3°F.
  • 98.8% of readings exceeded ASHRAE's recommended temperature range.
  • Humidity remained within acceptable limits.
  • The elevated temperatures were consistent with reduced cooling capacity caused by the failed condenser.

Row-Level Thermal Elevation

  • One equipment row consistently operated approximately 5°F warmer than neighboring rows.
  • Analysis confirmed the issue was isolated to the row itself and not simply a result of its proximity to the failed cooling unit.

Potential Secondary Cooling Issue Identified

  • The second cooling unit exhibited intermittent temperature spikes of up to 15.5°F.
  • The pattern was observed from multiple viewing angles and coincided with belt noise reported onsite.
  • While not yet confirmed as a fault, the condition was flagged for inspection.

Why It Matters

A follow-up inspection one week later found temperatures had risen significantly, with ambient air reaching 93.2°F and rack-face temperatures climbing to 97.7°F. Because FacilityOps AI continuously measures conditions from the same locations over time, operational changes can be detected, quantified, and trended rather than discovered through occasional spot checks.

Value Delivered to CRSC Data Center

The pilot at the CRSC Data Center, powered by Solutions IS, provided:

Cooling Reliability and Thermal Visibility

  • Early identification and quantification of a failed condenser.
  • Detection of row-level thermal anomalies before they became larger operational concerns.
  • Continuous environmental monitoring in place of periodic spot readings.

Uptime Risk Reduction

  • Early detection of a probable mechanical issue on the remaining cooling unit while it was carrying the facility's cooling load.
  • Greater visibility into developing risks that could impact operational continuity.

Safety and Physical Condition Monitoring

  • Documentation of physical facility risks, including access-control gaps, cable congestion, obstructions, and safety hazards.

Evidence and Auditability

  • Every observation was timestamped, traceable, and verifiable.
  • The facility now has a recomputable and auditable record of operating conditions collected without daily staff walkthroughs.

Bottom Line

The pilot at the CRSC Data Center, powered by Solutions IS, transformed facility conditions that were previously understood through experience and occasional inspections into a continuous, measurable, and auditable operational record. This enables data-driven decisions, earlier issue detection, and improved visibility into the health and performance of critical infrastructure.

With Thanks to CRSC

Our thanks to the team at the CRSC Data Center, powered by Solutions IS, for opening a live production environment to autonomous inspection, and for being among the first operators to put FacilityOps AI to work in a running facility. Cooling equipment degrades in every data center. What differs between facilities is whether the fault is seen early, measured precisely, and acted on quickly. CRSC chose to let this one be documented in full, from detection through repair, so that others can learn from a working facility rather than a demonstration.

That decision, and the speed of the repair behind it, reflect the operating discipline CRSC brings to the infrastructure in its charge and the confidence its clients place in it. By documenting this workflow, CRSC sets an example of both transparency and rigorous operational standards for the wider data center industry.
